Volunteer at a Pantry Partners pantry. To volunteer to provide food to the hungry contact Sa'ame Poston at Gleaners 317.925.0191 ext. 109 or Gleaners.org. This can be arranged to fit your schedule. Even a few hours once a month helps a lot!
Donate. Help feed the hungry by donating to IHI. $2 provides 40 lbs of food to the hungry in Indianapolis. Just $18 provides a daily school lunch for a child in Kenya for an entire year. $20 has never accomplished so much!
Speak Up for the Hungry. As an individual or as a congregation we invite you to join with Bread for the World to ask our government to play its part. For more information see Bread.org, BreadIndiana.org or contact Roger Howard at 317.594.9355.
Garden. St. Luke's and congregation Beth-El Zedeck are partnering through the Interfaith Hunger Initiative to create a garden at Fox Hill Elementary. The crop will be distributed to needy Fox Hill families. Volunteers are needed to tend the garden during the summer and to harvest and distribute food as needed. Volunteer as much or as little as you can on your own schedule. Contact Kathy Mayberry at kdsmayberrry@yahoo.com or 317-846-0167.
Other volunteer opportunities. The Interfaith Hunger Initiative is run entirely by volunteers. If you have gifts you'd like to use on behalf of the hungry contact Dave Miner at interfaithhunger@gmail.com or call 317.876.1967.
Engage more people. Let us know how we can share the IHI story with your faith leader, mission committee, educational program, etc. We also can offer general presentations on hunger, its causes and solutions. Contact Dave Miner at interfaithhunger@gmail.com or call 317.876.1967.
